The middle office needs of securities firms are definitely changing, says Paul Gately, head of client onboarding and solutions, middle office solutions, at BNY Mellon. FTF News interviewed Gately during the FTF Awards gala celebration June 20 at the Dream Downtown Hotel in New York City.
Eagle Investment Systems, part of BNY Mellon, won Best Middle Office Solution and Best Buy-Side Operations Solutions via the 2017 FTF News Technology Innovation Awards. The winners of the annual FTF Awards competition are chosen by qualified voters who are industry participants.
“So I think Eagle’s clients are continuing to going through quite a significant period of transition, and what we’re seeing is a re-focus on changing the operating model and a pivot to the data that’s needed to drive their businesses,” Gately says. As a consequence, firms are looking for alternative ways to manage and acquire that data.
“They may decide to outsource a component of that, such as with managed data services. Or they may consider outsourcing the complete operational base,” Gately says. “They’re also looking for a data model that’s sustainable and predictable. It has excellent quality to support the front office services that have been provided to the business. They’re looking for continued growth in the business and therefore a model that allows the businesses to acquire the data that’s required to support that.”
