Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, has hired James Schaefer from the Blackstone Group, where he served as head of global power, energy and renewables for Blackstone Advisory Partners, officials say.
Schaefer will join the firm’s investment banking department as a senior managing director covering the energy, power and energy technology sector, officials say. Before Blackstone, he served as global head of the power and renewable energy group at UBS. He has also held energy and banking positions at Lehman Brothers, Salomon Brothers and Chase.
“We look forward to welcoming Jim to Guggenheim Securities and helping him build out a pre-eminent energy investment banking business,” says Mark Van Lith, head of investment banking at Guggenheim Securities, in a prepared statement. “Jim’s client focus, track record of delivering innovative solutions, and team-oriented approach are a wonderful match to our own approach to building lasting client relationships. This hire underscores our commitment to the energy sector.”
