The new tool is intended to help firms track the data that flows through enterprise systems.
A data management and reporting software company, Rivvit, has released a data catalog module — a tool that provides data lineage documentation and transparency into how data flows through enterprise systems.
The module was designed specifically for investment managers and financial institutions and is now available to all Rivvit clients, officials say.
The module is intended to help firms keep track of data from dozens of systems and third-party providers as firms have increasingly complex data environments. They need to know the lineage of their data to get the most from it, officials say.
“The data catalog offers full traceability of data from its original source to transformations, calculations, and downstream reports. By surfacing metadata that’s often buried in legacy systems, the module enables clients to make faster, more informed decisions and accelerate digital transformation efforts,” according to Rivvit.
“When data sources and governance rules are constantly evolving, it’s critical to have tools that keep pace,” says Matt Biver, CEO and co-founder of Rivvit, in a prepared statement. “As a managed service provider, it’s important for us to give clients transparency into the complex processes we perform on their behalf.”
For change managers and operations teams, the data catalog module helps firms “gain visibility into system dependencies and downstream impacts, reducing risk and streamlining migrations, upgrades, and new implementations,” officials say.
Founded in 2019, Rivvit offers a data management and reporting platform intended to simplify complex data processes for financial institutions, officials say.
