The data demands of the securities industry are changing fast and there is a related increase in the need for effective analytics, which translates into investor clients wanting better services and support from the financial services firms they rely upon.
So says Mike Altmaier, senior vice president, global director of client and user support at FactSet, a provider of tools for data analytics. FactSet, which also offers services, content, and technology, won the 2017 Best Client Services Solution honor of the FTF News Technology Innovation Awards.
The winners of the annual FTF Awards competition are chosen by qualified voters who are industry participants.
“Our [financial services] clients need this data to help respond to regulatory agencies and to provide more transparency to their clients,” Altmaier says. “This has given us a great opportunity to partner with them and work more closely than in years past. So, it’s been great.”
However, a serious issue complicating matters is that financial services firms have to do a lot more with a lot less and, in some instances, have to rely more on their IT and services providers, Altmaier says.
Altmaier was interviewed during the FTF Awards gala celebration June 20 held at the Dream Downtown Hotel in New York City.
